![]() I would argue that the heroic fantasy story is just an excuse for Sanderson to talk about how narratives work. The books don’t just play with literary tropes, they gleefully point out that they are doing it. It’s not a surprise, particularly since he clearly survives to write the first five books.Īs I’ve written before, the Alcatraz books are a celebration of the unreliable narrator. I’m not going to talk too much about the plot. ![]() Because Alcatraz had a Heroic Blue Screen of Death at the end of the fifth book (so that’s what Heroic BSoD stands for, huh), his bodyguard and love interest has to take over narration. (To be fair, it looks like the delay was due to the publishers, not Sanderson) That’s because I was late to the party and didn’t have to wait the full five years that OG fans had to wait. I am quite lucky because I only had to wait a year for the last Alcatraz/Evil Librarian book by Brandon Sanderson to come out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is my first-ever foray into the Steampunk genre, so that’s another new adventure I get to go on as a writer.” Legenderry is the name of the world, and it is in fact a world peopled with some of the greatest legends of adventure fiction. In her book “The Fairest of Them All,” Tatar compiled 21 variations of the Snow White story, which at its core is about a beautiful girl and her jealous and cruel stepmother.Ĭinderella, like many other fairy tales, was most famously defined by the Brothers Grimm, which Walt Disney transformed into a classic movie - in turn, leading to the now iconic imagery of Cinderella as a blonde woman in a sweeping blue dress.
